Importance du projet
Les arbres reliques sont des témoins de temps géologiques très anciens. A ce titre, ils sont un objet d’étude particulièrement intéressant et important pour les biogéographes, les paléontologues et les spécialistes de la protection des espèces et de la nature. Grâce à ce projet et aux nombreux contacts avec des partenaires suisses et internationaux, le Musée est devenu un centre de compétences dans le domaine de la dendrologie.

Expositions
Les principaux résultats du projet ont été présentés au cours des années 2014-2016, dans deux expositions temporaires : une au Musée d'histoire naturelle de Fribourg (De mémoire d’arbre) et une à Bakou, Azerbaïdjan (Green treasure of Azerbaijan).
Highlight
L’un des faits marquants de ces dernières années est sans aucun doute la publication de la monographie sur la famille des noyers (Juglandaceae), qui met l’accent sur le genre Pterocarya, le Ptérocaryer et la famille des noyers : Wingnuts (Pterocarya) and walnut family – Relict trees : linking the past, present and future.
