Pre-apprenticeship for refugees and migrants (PAI / INVOL)
Chapeau
The integration pre-apprenticeship for refugees and migrants (PAI / INVOL) is a project co-financed by the Swiss Confederation and the Canton of Fribourg. The PAI / INVOL runs for one school year.
The PAI aims to integrate foreign nationals who arrived in Switzerland late into the work market by preparing them for entry into vocational training.
PAI / INVOL positions
► Training positions for 2025/2026 will be gradually published here.
Companies interested in proposing a PAI / INVOL for next year can contact us via the form below.
Individuals interested in taking part in a PAI / INVOL can already get in touch with training companies in their field of interest to suggest this programm. We'll be happy to answer any questions you may have and help you get started.
For your information, there is a préPAI / vorINVOL measure for people with a pre-apprenticeship profile who would like help in their search for training.
► Schoolyear 2024/2025
As the number of PAI / INVOL positions per school year is limited, we will very soon reach the maximum capacity in Fribourg. With the exception of contracts that have already been announced, there is no longer any guarantee that we will be able to take on new PAI / INVOL at EPAI / GIBS in 2024/2025.
However: if a training company would like to hire a person whose language level still needs to be improved, please do not hesitate to contact us to see if, following resignations, any PAI positions have become “free”, or if another solution could be envisaged.

The pre-apprenticeship for refugees and migrants runs for one school year (generally from the end of August to June). A training company hires the pre-apprentice. The training contract gives access to the program.
The program is based on the principle of dual vocational education and training:
School: 1.5 class days The courses aim to improve language and social skills. The professional disciplines provide an introduction to the basics of the trade being learnt.
Company: 3.5 working days Working in a company allows students to immerse themselves in the professional world and develop their technical skills. If the pre-apprenticeship is successful, the same company can hire the pre-apprentice for an AFP/EBA or CFC/EFZ.
Target group
The pre-apprenticeship for refugees and migrants is aimed at the following target groups:
Asylum migration: F, B and S permits
Non-asylum migration: B and C permits
In both cases, the people entering the program are aiming for vocational education and training and do not have the skills, particularly language skills, to start an AFP/EBA or CFC/EFZ immediately. The pre-apprenticeship for refugees and migrants year helps to develop these skills.
People with an N permit are not eligible for the program.
Profile of participants
Language level A2-B1 spoken, A1-A2 written
Age 16 to 35 years
Level of education Completion of compulsory schooling, without a secondary 2 diploma
Objective To begin training in a field targeted by the pre-apprenticeship for refugees and migrants
Training companies
The training company plays an essential role in the pre-apprenticeship for refugees and migrants. The program is designed to resemble an apprenticeship. The training company welcomes the pre-apprentice and teaches him or her the basics of the trade.
The program is offered in several specialisations (Food, Construction, Sales, etc.). Training companies must be able to provide training in the target trades for these specialisations. Any company that is authorised to train in the target trades can take on a pre-apprentice.
If you are a training company but do not train in the target occupations, we would be delighted to work with you to find solutions tailored to your situation. We are ready to open up new specialisations as needs and requests dictate.
